On December 12, 2024, the 6th "Belt and Road" and "BRICS" Advanced Photonics Forum was successfully held in Faculty Club No.2 Hall, International Campus, Zhejiang University. The forum was hosted by the Coolege of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, undertaked by International Research Center for Advanced Photonics, Zhejiang University, co-organized by International Joint Research Center for Optoelectronic Technology (The Chinese Ministry of Education), Joint International Research Laboratory of Photonics (The Chinese Ministry of Sciecne and Technology), Zhejiang International Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Micro-Nano Optoelectronics. The forum was held in a combination of online and onsite ways, and 9 well-known international scholars in the field of optics were invited to give keynote presentations, attracting the participation of many teachers and students. The conference was co-chaired by Prof. Pankaj Kumar Choudhury, Prof. Jun Qian and Prof. Yungui Ma of the Coolege of Optical Science and Engineering.
At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Yaocheng Shi, vice president of the Coolege of Optical Science and Engineering, gave an opening speech, expressing his gratitude to the teachers and students attending both onsite and online. During the forum, experts and scholars from Universiti Teknologi MARA in Malaysia, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Singapore Eye Research Institute/Duke-Nus in Singapore, ITMO University in Russia, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, Dianov Fiber Research Center RAS in Russia and Zhejiang University, communicate around quantum optics and solid state optoelectronics, optical coherence tomography, nanophotonics, nanomaterials, nonlinear and quantum optics, and semiconductor components. The participants had a lively discussion and gained a lot from it.
The closing ceremony of the forum was presided over by Professor Yungui Ma, Director of the International Research Center for Advanced Photonics. He extended warm congratulations on the success of the forum and thanked all the distinguished speakers for their wonderful sharing. He also expressed the hope that more scholars can join the forum in the future to jointly promote academic exchanges and cooperation.
The "Belt and Road" and "BRICS" Advanced Photonics Forum aims to build a high-level and high-quality academic exchange platform, which is mainly used to share cutting-edge research results, carry out interdisciplinary discussions, promote international scientific and technological cooperation, and further promote the coordinated development of academic and practical forces along the "Belt and Road" countries and "BRICS" countries.
