The fifth "Belt and Road" and "BRICS" Forum for Advanced Photonics was successfully held

On December 15, 2023, the fifth "Belt and Road" and "BRICS" Forum for Advanced Photonics was successfully held in Zhejiang University's Yuquan Campus. The forum was hosted by the Coolege of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, undertaked by International Research Center for Advanced Photonics, Zhejiang University, co-organized by International Joint Research Center for Optoelectronic Technology (The Chinese Ministry of Education), Joint International Research Laboratory of Photonics (The Chinese Ministry of Sciecne and Technology), Zhejiang International Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Micro-Nano Optoelectronics. The forum invited 9 well-known overseas scholars in the field of optics and Daoxin Dai, dean of the Coolege of Optical Science and Engineering, to give a keynote report. The forum was held in a combination of online and offline, presided over by Jun Qian, Yaoguang Ma and Yungui Ma, three professors of the Coolege of Optical Science and Engineering, and attracted many teachers and students to participate.

At the beginning of the forum, Professor Daoxin Dai gave an opening speech, thanking the offline and online teachers and students for their participation, and warmly welcoming the offline foreign guests. After that, Dean Dai briefly introduced the scientific research, teaching staff and international exchanges of the Coolege of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University in recent years. Several professors from the State University of Campinas in Brazil, the University of Light and Machinery in Russia, the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, the Indian Institute of Nanoscience and Technology, the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil, the University of Kauster in Saudi Arabia, the Xavier City University of Science and Technology in Egypt, the Indian Institute of Technology, the National Kapodistrian University in Athens, Greece, focused on nanophotonics, nano-metamaterials, optics imaging, computational optics, photon drive, photon sensors, silicon-based photonics, two-photon spectroscopy and other directions are reported. The participants had a lively discussion and gained a lot from it.

Professor Yaocheng Shi, vice president of the Coolege of Optical Science and Engineering, presided over the closing ceremony of the forum and expressed warm congratulations on the successful convening of the forum, thanked the speakers for their wonderful speeches, and hoped that more scholars could participate in the conference in the future.

The "Belt and Road" and "BRICS" Forum for Advanced Photonics provides a platform for participants to share their respective cutting-edge research results, conduct interdisciplinary discussions, and promote cooperation between researchers and practitioners, especially from the "Belt and Road" and "BRICS" countries.
